Love in Protocol (Korean Mini-Series) – 20264 episodes averaging 10 minutes each. The main character is a researcher conducting a clinical study on human behaviour. He asks deeply personal questions and gets his test subject to open up about himself. These two men have met before. Years earlier, they formed a close bond during their private tutoring sessions. Nothing romantic happened then, but those unresolved feelings have come back. A boring romance with barely any emotion at all, and overall it really has nothing new to offer. Setting a romance within a psychological experiment sounded intriguing, but it ends up being one big yawn. The kissing scene at the end was decent, but the story gives neither actor any chance to show their potential.
Awakening the Steppe (Chinese Mini-Series) – 2026Amur, a carefree vet and guesthouse owner living in the grasslands, comes across an injured Singaporean traveler, Lei Ze Xin. Lei Ze Xin is there to fulfill his dad’s wish, and Amur saves his life, making it seem like a light, sweet romance might bloom from this unexpected meeting. But actually, he is there to thank Amur because his dog saved his life. While the landscapes are really stunning, their love story appears out of nowhere and is totally unbelievable. The characters are already declaring their love and talking about spending the rest of their lives together, even making plans to open a pet clinic together. The show feels rushed and unrealistic. Apart from the beautiful scenery, there isn’t much that truly stands out or stays with you after finishing the series.
Laundry Romance (Korean Mini-Series) – 20264 episodes of around 7 minutes each. This could easily have been a short film. It is about two men who meet at a laundromat. The main character is anxious about an upcoming job interview. While he waits for his clothes to dry, a friendly stranger gives him some unexpected career advice. They become friends and begin spending more time together. As they get closer, romantic feelings begin to develop. The show gives us a sweet couple with a simple relationship. But honestly, it doesn’t feel particularly memorable because it is too short and doesn’t give you enough time to even register the characters.
The Last Night (Thai Mini-Series) – 2025This is part of the “4 Destiny” BL Project, a four-part Thai BL anthology about love, fate, and redemption. This is a story about a bond between the living and the dead. When one friend becomes a monk and the other dies in an accident, their connection takes on a different form. After Aim’s sudden death—caused by a painful mistake involving his best friend Yot—secrets from that night are revealed, including Aim’s hidden feelings. 2 episodes of about 35-40 minutes each, this one didn’t connect with me at all.
Red Moon and Wine (Thai Mini-Series) – 2025This is part of the “4 Destiny” BL Project, a four-part Thai BL anthology about love, fate, and redemption. When a man enters a cursed hotel connected to a vow beneath the red moon, vengeance, immortality, and love become intertwined in a battle against destiny. As the red moon rises, the truth comes out: their souls have been bound for centuries, trapped by unresolved love and vengeance. This was really bad. 2 episodes of about 35-40 minutes each
Un-In Heart (Thai Mini-Series) – 2025This is part of the “4 Destiny” BL Project, a four-part Thai BL anthology about love, fate, and redemption. 2 episodes of about 40 minutes each. After they decided to go their separate ways, Heart hoped Un would end up with someone who truly loved him and could make him even happier than he had. But it turned out to be too hard for him to resist. When they saw each other again, he hoped Un would return to him. But the harder he tried, the unhappier his ex-boyfriend became. On their upcoming anniversary, Heart asked Un to spend time with him. This would be the last time, and then he would go his own way. He found it, perfect love that many were desperate to find, but failed to keep it.
Blood Fighters (Thai Mini-Series) – 2025This is part of the “4 Destiny” BL Project, a four-part Thai BL anthology about love, fate, and redemption. The ring of fighters becomes the ring of love. Yim, a young chap, has to work at a boxing gym to pay off his father’s debts. He has to work and train as a boxer. However, what he is doing is far from what he really wants to be. One day, Yim gets into a fight with some thugs. Kampan, who is skilled in boxing, helps him. Kampan trains Yim in boxing, but he has his own reasons for not boxing himself. So he passes his boxing abilities on to Yim. 2 episodes averaging 35 minutes each.
Situationship in the City (Vietnam Mini-Series – 2025)2 episodes of 20-25 minutes each. Nhat An is a talented, confident young man with a stylish Y2K fashion sense. Everything changes completely when he accidentally “collides” with CEO Bao Minh. From there, the “ambiguous” love relationship between Nhat An and Bao Minh begins. But it also reveals that things are not so simple, as the two shared a special relationship in another life, when the ghost of Nhat An “encountered” the magician Bao Minh. As long as the show stayed in modern times, it was a simple love story, but the whole supernatural angle was confusing for me and felt very rushed. Either the screenplay had gaps or the execution was flawed. The lead actor playing the fem queen was quite good.
Secret (Korean Mini-Series) – 2025Jeongsu and Yuho wake up imprisoned in an unidentified locked room, forced to stand naked in front of each other. A mysterious man known only as X, with a camera in hand, coldly forces them into forbidden acts of intimacy. Trapped between fear and raw physical instinct, the two strangers are pulled into a distorted relationship shaped by coercion and desire. This is a brutal survival test that pushes the limits of sensation. 3 episodes of 9 minutes each. Honestly, not much happens here. It gets boring very quickly.
Unfollow (Korean Mini-Series) – 2026The main lead accidentally follows a popular guy on social media, then quickly unfollows him in panic. Too late. His classmate notices what happened. The next day, he brings it up during their study group and teases him about it. The protagonist feels embarrassed, but is surprised when the teasing turns into flirting. What could have been a lighthearted BL ends up as an awkward story, especially because the popular guy literally stalks and forces himself on the innocent one. He is already acting possessive before the relationship has even started. Thankfully, it is only 3 episodes of about 7 minutes each.
Winter Fever (Korean Mini-Series) – 20264 episodes of about 9 minutes each. A fifteen-year friendship that turns into love begins falling apart when Yujun starts believing Yeon Ho’s devotion is pity rather than love. Seeing Yeon Ho’s seemingly perfect life, Yujun begins to see himself as a flaw in it and decides Yeon Ho would shine more without him. Proud and determined, he chooses to break up, even if that means becoming the villain in Yeon Ho’s life. When the love he gave with his whole being is rejected, his everyday life falls apart. His love becomes an obsessive desire, where keeping Yujun beside him matters more than Yujun’s happiness or pain. Into this broken situation comes Baek Hyeon Seo, a senior who seems gentle but exploits their suffering. He pushes Yujun to use him as a way to end the relationship, quietly taking advantage of Yeon Ho’s absence. Their tangled emotions spiral into a tragic romance fuelled by guilt, obsession, and manipulation. I have to say this mini series was quite unique and nice.
Between Doors (Korean Mini-Series) – 20266 episodes of 6 minutes each. The main character, Hyeon, is relaxing at home when an unexpected visitor, Yunjae, knocks on his door and starts making out with him. Hyeon is stunned, and Yunjae pulls away as soon as he realizes this is not his ex-boyfriend. Rather than stopping there, the two keep occasionally meeting in the building and flirting with each other, right until Hyeon’s boyfriend appears. Even after Yunjae finds out Hyeon is taken, Hyeon still shows up at his house and the two end up sleeping together. I honestly am not sure what this show is trying to say. There is zero character development or chemistry. The awkward conversations lead nowhere.
Let it be Called Love (Myanmar Mini-Series) – 20264 episodes of 15 minutes each. This is not really a BL. If it is, things are very subtle. It is about a gay young teenager struggling to find a place in this world where he can fit in. Our protagonist has been teased for being gay right from his school days. In fact, even his closest friend, mother, and sisters give him a hard time about it, including the fact that he brings no money into the house. Rejected everywhere, one day when he is about to take his own life, a stranger saves him, helps him find work at a restaurant as a singer, and turns his life around. Thankfully, our lead still keeps his feet on the ground and is there for his mother and sisters when they need him despite their behaviour. There are no signs of attraction or love between the stranger and our lead, apart from a close friendship, but there is always a possibility. (Maybe the laws do not allow for it)
My Stepbrother is My Favourite Novelist! (Japanese Mini-Series) – 20264 episodes of about 10 minutes each. The story follows Kei, a serious novelist with zero romantic experience, who is suddenly asked to write a Boys’ Love novel. As he struggles to understand the emotional depth needed for the genre, his sharp-tongued, mischievous, and seemingly worldly younger stepbrother, Kairi, suddenly moves in. Kairi is a fan of the author and is shocked to discover that the author is his stepbrother. Circumstances arise, so Kei has to turn to his stepbrother, who has some experience dating guys, for real-world relationship research to find inspiration and understand the “thrill” of BL romance so he can write his book. In the process, as expected, the two boys fall for each other.
Sweet Blood (Korean Mini-Series) – 20268 episodes of about 10 minutes each. On the night of a blue moon lunar eclipse that occurs once every ten years, the portal between the vampire world, where drinking human blood is forbidden, and the human world opens. Lucifer, a vampire prince who desperately craves human blood, descends into the human world. Minu, a university student in his early twenties, moves from the countryside to the city and has a rare disease that puts his life at risk whenever he bleeds. One day, Minu becomes the victim of a hit-and-run, bleeds, and Lucifer drinks his blood, somehow creating a blood bond between them. They can no longer be physically apart and are forced to spend time together. Slowly, feelings begin to develop, and Lucifer confesses that he is only half vampire and that his brother is out there for his life. After this, the series becomes pretty run-of-the-mill. It starts off well but somewhere loses its plot.
