The Male Gaze: Breaking Dawn

Five Short Films About Boys Trying to Find Their Place NQV Media's short film series brings together stories about boys caught in difficult, often confusing stages of their lives. Across the collection, they are trying to work out who they are while dealing with fear, change, rejection, rebirth and the need to belong. The films approach those experiences from sharply different directions, so these are not routine coming-of-age stories. Some of the strongest moments come when identity becomes impossible to avoid, especially in situations that force strangers or friends to confront what they believe about themselves and one another. Flush (Brazil) A law student enters a bathroom while arguing with his father on the phone, only to encounter a young trans woman emerging from a stall. His immediate reaction is visible disgust, followed by an attempt to leave. The problem is that it is already 10:40 at night, and the college doors will remain locked until morning. Trapped together, the two young people appear to have little reason to understand each other. They would normally pass without a glance, yet the long night gradually reveals more in common than either expects. That connection does not come easily: their opposing views on life and sexuality lead to repeated, harsh and blunt confrontations before any common ground can emerge. Waking Up in Vegas (Switzerland) Yael is drawn to his older brother, a weightlifter who repeatedly tries to bring him into training, although Yael is unsure that this is the life he wants. His uncertainty becomes more complicated through Aaron, his best friend…

Asian Mini-Series Collection - Part 3

Love in Protocol (Korean Mini-Series) - 20264 episodes averaging 10 minutes each. The main character is a researcher conducting a clinical study on human behaviour. He asks deeply personal questions and gets his test subject to open up about himself. These two men have met before. Years earlier, they formed a close bond during their private tutoring sessions. Nothing romantic happened then, but those unresolved feelings have come back. A boring romance with barely any emotion at all, and overall it really has nothing new to offer. Setting a romance within a psychological experiment sounded intriguing, but it ends up being one big yawn. The kissing scene at the end was decent, but the story gives neither actor any chance to show their potential. Awakening the Steppe (Chinese Mini-Series) - 2026Amur, a carefree vet and guesthouse owner living in the grasslands, comes across an injured Singaporean traveler, Lei Ze Xin. Lei Ze Xin is there to fulfill his dad's wish, and Amur saves his life, making it seem like a light, sweet romance might bloom from this unexpected meeting. But actually, he is there to thank Amur because his dog saved his life. While the landscapes are really stunning, their love story appears out of nowhere and is totally unbelievable. The characters are already declaring their love and talking about spending the rest of their lives together, even making plans to open a pet clinic together. The show feels rushed and unrealistic. Apart from the beautiful scenery, there isn’t much that truly stands out or stays with you after finishing…

Gay Short Films : 130

Burn Bridge (UK)Secretly pining for his roguish, constantly horny straight best friend Jamie, Harry is your typical angst-ridden teenager. His true feelings begin to surface as jealousy takes hold when Jamie starts seeing a local girl. This film explores the difficulty of moving past those intense, lustful teenage infatuations. Nice film. Mồ Hôi (Vietnam) [Sweat]Hung, a farm worker, is getting ready to cross the border of rural Vietnam to find refuge in another country. While his life has mostly been a cycle of labor and routine, his last day spent with a fellow worker, Hoang, changes how he perceives both himself and the world. The film highlights the complex struggles involving displacement, the nation, and the nuances of queerness. tbh I thought it was quite mundane and boring. Photographs (USA)Greyson, who is dealing with a recent heartbreak, agrees to let his high school friend Robby, a photography student, use him as a model for a portfolio. The goal is to update Greyson's dating app photos, but as the shoot progresses, a quiet romance develops between the two. It was a simple, sweet love story of young adults, and the two boys were cute. Aviones de Papel (Ecuador) [Paper Airplanes]Mateo, sixteen, is navigating a confusing psychic and homosexual awakening. He is struggling with loneliness and isn't prepared to bid farewell to the spirit of his mother, Rosa, who appears to him. Following his grandmother's hospitalization, he forms a strange, intimate bond with Enrique, a boy who recently committed suicide, through which he experiences the beautiful imperfections of life and love. To…

Just Not Naked Enough (USA)Alex and David are married but living in a state of quiet separation. On the morning of their shared birthday, they meet again at the Los Angeles home they once occupied together. What begins as a polite conversation by the pool gradually exposes the deep fractures in their marriage, including professional imbalance, depression, sexual estrangement, and unresolved betrayal. The rising tension culminates in the discovery of a devastating detail—a stranger's watch found by their bed—which forces them to face the reality of infidelity and their growing emotional distance. Throughout this single morning, the couple faces a choice: let pride and resentment drive them apart, or become emotionally "naked enough" to fight for their relationship. IUS Del Tiempo (Spain) [IUS of Time]A young photography student travels to a remote village in northern Spain to reconnect with his roots, where he meets Xuan, an aging cheesemaker burdened by long‑standing rumors regarding his sexuality. As Luca's camera captures Xuan's craftsmanship, an unexpected and quiet connection develops between the two men, uncovering unspoken histories, old wounds, and the prejudices of Xuan's past. This gentle bond begins to form, slowly challenging a lifetime of silence, shame, and gossip. Yr Alwad (UK/Wales) [The Call]Have you ever felt unsafe while walking down a street at night? For many in the LGBTQIA+ community, this is a familiar and sad reality. While speaking on the phone with his mother (Emma), Dylan realizes that former classmates are currently following and taunting him. The Call builds powerful tension by utilizing the helplessness of being physically distant from…
