MARRY MY DEAD BODY by Wei-Hao Cheng: married to a gay ghost

A mix of offbeat comedy, thriller, and hetero-gay bromance, Marry My Dead Body is a funny cocktail, as likeable as it is effective, from Taiwan.  Ming-Han (Greg Han Hsu) is a handsome, hotheaded cop trying to climb the ranks and always craving action. Definitely over-motivated, he nevertheless has some serious flaws that could harm his career. Sometimes too violent, slightly homophobic at times, he's not far from being permanently sidelined.  Refusing to be sidelined, he rushes to the side of his crush, Lin Tzu-Ching (Gingle Wang), when the opportunity arises to pursue dangerous drug dealers. While conducting a search in a park, he comes across a red envelope. A group of elderly women jump on him, telling him that fate has led him to take this envelope and that now he will have to agree to a "ghost marriage." According to them, Ming-Han must marry Mao, a young gay man who died after being hit by a hit-and-run driver! This would be the way to fulfill one of the deceased's last wishes (who dreamed of getting married despite his father's fierce opposition) and to help soothe his soul. Being not very gay-friendly, Ming-Han categorically refuses... but the old ladies warn him that fate has truly chosen him to be the husband and that if he doesn't comply, great misfortunes will befall him. He doesn't take them seriously. In the days following this event, Ming-Han is forced to realize that the old women had not lied: he is seriously injured and his daily life becomes unbearable. Fearing that his entire existence will turn…

Disney Pixar introduces Christian character after axing trans storyline from the same show

Disney Pixar has unveiled its first overtly Christian character in nearly two decades, introduced in the same animated series from which a trans storyline was recently removed. Many see this decision as a clear signal of Disney’s shifting priorities. Coupled with the company's recent statement that it will scale back its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs, it appears that Disney—long criticized by conservatives for its opposition to Florida's "Don’t Say Gay" law—is now responding to conservative pressures. The series in question, Win or Lose, centers on a middle school softball team. While the 14-year-old character originally portrayed as transgender remains in the series, all references to gender identity have been removed. The trans actress who voiced the character expressed her disappointment upon learning that the trans storyline had been cut. “When it comes to animated content aimed at younger audiences, we understand that many parents prefer to address certain topics with their children on their own terms and timelines,” a Disney spokesperson explained at the time. However, this sentiment seems not to apply to Christianity. In the series' opening episode, viewers are introduced to Laurie, a character who opens with a prayer to the “heavenly father.” Her introduction takes place amid ongoing political discourse in which figures like Donald Trump and the Republican party have targeted the trans community, often using Christianity as justification, while simultaneously claiming that Christians face persecution due to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. LGBTQ Nation has reached out to Disney for comments regarding Laurie’s introduction. This is not the only instance where Disney has…

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” queens have 5 tips for getting started in drag

For every action, there’s an equal and opposite reaction. For many Americans, especially those concerned about the White House's ongoing assaults on free speech, the right to assemble, the arts, LGBTQ+ rights, and trans identity, the urge to respond might be: "I'm going to get into drag." It’s an exciting way to meet new people and express oneself. Here are five pieces of advice from seasoned drag performers. Know Yourself "Understand who you are," says Alaska Thunder, winner of Season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. "It’s essential to know your true self and your preferences, not just what’s trending at the moment. This is a reflection of your personal vision." RuPaul, creator of RuPaul's Drag Race, shares, "If you're starting in drag, begin with yourself. Who are you? What do you aim to achieve? Why are you doing this? Drag doesn’t change you; it uncovers your true self." Peppermint, another Drag Race veteran, encourages, "Do it! Let your personality shine. Don’t be afraid to express yourself, whether you’re trans, queer, gender nonbinary, or gender non-conforming. Show the world your talents, and let them speak for themselves." "No one will cheer for you more than you should cheer for yourself!" adds Bob the Drag Queen, who arrived in New York City with just $500 and a suitcase. "If you want to do drag, you’ll figure it out." Immerse Yourself “For me, immersing myself in the New York nightlife drag scene was essential," says Bob. "It’s about becoming a key part of that community. Even clowns have their schools—learning from…

Trans singer Bells Larsen cancels US tour dates because he can’t apply for a visa under Trump

Canadian singer-songwriter Bells Larsen has announced the cancellation of his upcoming U.S. tour due to new visa regulations under the Trump administration targeting transgender applicants. Larsen, whose second album Blurring Time is set to release on April 25, had initially planned performances in New York City, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and other U.S. cities this June. However, in an Instagram post on Friday, April 11, he revealed that he was forced to cancel these dates after being informed that he would not be granted a U.S. visa. According to Larsen, he received an email from the American Federation of Musicians notifying him that he could not apply for a visa due to the U.S. Immigration policy, which only acknowledges identification that aligns with an individual’s assigned sex at birth. In February, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a memo directing consulates and immigration offices globally to reject transgender visa applicants under a provision of the 1952 Immigration and Nationality Act. This provision imposes a "permanent fraud bar" on individuals who provide false information on their visa applications. This directive followed President Donald Trump’s executive order on February 5, which called for a national and international ban on transgender women participating in women’s sports. Legal experts have pointed out that the new visa guidance is so expansive that it applies to all transgender applicants. “To put it simply,” Larsen wrote on Instagram, “because I’m trans (and have an M on my passport), I can’t tour in the United States.” Larsen shared that he had been contemplating canceling his U.S.…

Yes, No, or Maybe? (Japanese Anime)

Yes, No, or Maybe is a short, one-hour anime that presents a charming and engaging love story, unfolding at a relaxed pace. The film delves into the theme of duality, particularly examining the contrast between outward perception and inner behavior. What stands out is how the narrative remains focused on its core message and concludes within a concise timeframe, avoiding unnecessary drama. The use of anime as a medium allows for creative freedom, yet the filmmakers successfully stay true to their vision, maintaining a clear focus throughout. The protagonist, Kei, is a TV presenter who projects a polished public persona, concealing his true nature, which is petty and confrontational. He is skilled at hiding his true thoughts to preserve his celebrity image, crucial for his career. Kei crosses paths with animation artist Tsuzuki Ushio during a work assignment, and he plays the part of a courteous and friendly individual, impressing Ushio and his crew. Several days after their initial meeting, they unexpectedly encounter each other again following a bike accident, which leaves Ushio injured. Kei, disguised with a face mask, appears indifferent to Ushio’s injury, angering the artist who takes offense at Kei's behavior. As compensation for the incident, Ushio coerces Kei into assisting with his next stop-motion project. Though initially reluctant, Kei starts visiting Ushio regularly, helping with the creative process. Over time, a peculiar yet warm bond develops between the two, with Kei maintaining the secret of his true identity. As their connection deepens, Kei finds it increasingly difficult to maintain the facade, especially when Ushio presses for…

Submission: If you meet someone online behind my back, I won’t accept him no matter how handsome he is

Let me tell you my story. I met my ex in college. The reason I liked him was simple: his looks. Yes, I was a face lover at that time. Good looks made me ignore other factors. When we were young, who didn't go through the stages of being naive and superficial? He is very handsome, more than 1.8 meters tall, thin and white, with three-dimensional facial features. He is also a famous handsome guy in their school. We met on a small software. Seeing that such a handsome guy is also a G and is willing to date an ordinary person like me, I feel that at this moment, I have used up all my luck in my life. His family's financial situation is average. His father is just a small employee in a company. His mother is ill and has medical expenses every month. His sister is also in college. My family is relatively well-off. I can get a lot of New Year's money from my elders every year, and I also have more pocket money. At that time, I was a pure lover, willing to buy him this and that, every time we went out, I would treat him to a big meal, and I would also provide him with snacks. Every year on his birthday, Valentine's Day, Chinese Valentine's Day, etc., I would show my appreciation by sometimes buying him a new phone, sometimes giving him a smart watch, or his favorite sneakers. Although he seldom bought me things when we were together, I didn't mind it. I…

The handsome guy I met in the supermarket

The day before yesterday, I was paying at the cashier counter of the Red Day Supermarket. My magical sixth sense told me that there seemed to be a burning gaze staring at me. I turned my head sharply, and a mature square face immediately appeared in front of me. He was about 175 cm tall, with a high nose bridge, thick eyebrows, and deep eyes that exuded an aggressive aura. He was wearing a black suit, a snow-white shirt, and black wide-toed leather shoes. What a heroic man. His eyes also radiated a fire-like light and he looked at me intently, as if he was admiring the blooming autumn chrysanthemums. Seeing his burning gaze, I just felt my face burning. He smiled slightly, nodded, and pursed his lips to indicate that I had paid. I pushed the shopping cart to the door and slowly took things out of the shopping cart, but I watched him walk over without blinking, and then passed by and pushed open the glass door of the supermarket and walked out. I hurried out, but he had already opened the door of a Mercedes-Benz and got in. I watched the car disappear from my sight. I have been distracted since I saw that man the day before yesterday. Yesterday, Saturday, I was off work, and I ran back and forth to the Red Day Supermarket several times, hoping to meet him in the supermarket. I have made up my mind that if I meet him again, I must say hello to him and find out if…

That year when I was an intern, I spent New Year's Eve with a handsome straight guy

I am 30 years old now, he is 29 years old now. First of all, I am gay, he is straight. When I met him, I was 18 years old and he was 17 years old. I returned to my hometown in my senior year to intern at a company, and he was intern at the company partner where I was intern. Due to work, I would run to his office. The first time I saw him, I paid more attention to him because he was very handsome. He also paid attention to me because I was very tall (I am 185 cm), but he rarely spoke and was busy doing his own things. I just passed by him. Later, we had intersections a few times. I would ask him for some information and go out with him to do some work. After a few times, I would chat with him about some private matters. I learned that he was from another city, and his parents rented a house to settle down in this city. At that time, he had just broken up with his girlfriend, and his work had just started as an intern. His family couldn't help, so he was in a low mood. I was also relatively young at that time, and I didn't think too much about it. I just thought he was very handsome and wanted to make friends, thinking that it would be great if he was also handsome. After that, we just had some normal interactions. Gradually, we got to know each other…

Every You, Every Me (Thai Series)

I had no idea that this series was actually an anthology with five distinct love stories. As with any anthology, some tales deeply resonate, while others leave you craving more—this series is no exception. With a total of 8 episodes, each about 50 minutes long, the first two stories are each contained within one episode, while the remaining three span across two episodes. Episode 1 (Sun & Dol) - Sun, a cheerful delivery driver, is recovering from a recent breakup. Dol, a serious office worker, frequently orders food from him. Both men are colorblind, a condition that can be cured if they meet their soulmate on a rainy day. After their paths cross, they discover that they are each other's destined partners. However, Dol is a logical thinker who doesn't believe in destiny. Despite his skepticism, Sun persists, hoping to convince Dol to give their budding relationship a chance. This story was straightforward and without unnecessary drama, which I found quite enjoyable. Dol's difficulty in opening up due to past experiences and Sun’s naive belief in soulmates created an engaging dynamic. Thankfully, the two managed to overcome their differences by the end of the episode. In just one installment, the show effectively told a complete and compelling story, helped significantly by the charming, energetic leads. I was eager to see what the next episode would bring. Episode 2 (Prin & First) - Prin, a busy CEO who inherited the company from his retired grandmother, is a self-professed workaholic with no time for dating. His grandmother, Pimpan, encourages him to settle…

The Dilemma of Falling in Love with a Basketball Partner

From the beginning, I knew that Wei was not G, because he already had a girlfriend in a stalemate in the first semester of freshman year. She was a charming girl, petite and lovely.       Wei and I became good friends because of basketball. We were both good basketball players. The "bang bang" sound of basketball hitting outside the window was simply soul-stirring. If we didn't go out and sweat, we couldn't live in peace. But at that time we were just good friends. Even when we were close defense on the court, our arms were covered with sweat, or when we were taking a bath in the school public bath, I never had any reverie or strange feelings. In a word, he didn't make me fall in love.       As a good friend, of course I like him, otherwise what is the basis for being good? But the distance between liking and loving is sometimes very subtle. Although the boundary is clear, one step forward means death, and one step back means life. That's it. Some friends can be together for a lifetime, but you only stay on this side of the boundary and will never cross the line. But sometimes, crossing the line is just a matter of a flash of thought, and perhaps without even realizing it, someone has quietly entered the world of love. You can't refuse, but can you accept it? ! It was a weekend evening. A few of us were playing on the court, shouting and yelling. Then…

Got the new gym trainer drunk

The young marshal was sweating profusely while running on the treadmill, but his eyes wandered to the physical trainer who was lying on the ground lifting barbells. The trainer was new today, 30 years old, and was said to have been a bodybuilder and won the provincial level bodybuilding championship. He was a thin old man with a square face, a short and powerful chin, and some clean and fine stubble. His face was healthy and ruddy, and his eyes were very powerful when he looked at people. His muscles were still very strong, his body shape was well maintained, and his hair was cut short, and the whole person looked mature and energetic. He was not the young marshal's coach, and several middle-aged women had been around him for a whole day. The young marshal clearly saw that he was being taken advantage of by them openly and secretly. But he always had a blank expression and a serious look. The young marshal liked to watch him demonstrate in sports trousers. His movements were slow and powerful, elegant and vigorous. The young marshal had already found out that his name was Yu Xiao, and everyone called him Lao Yu. He has been included in the young marshal's hardcover recipes. It depends on what means the young marshal will use to cook him on his own table. Lao Yu's body was lying flat, with his legs supporting the ground, his muscles bulging, and he lifted the 50-kilogram barbell with great effort. His whole body was soaked with…

Physical education teacher and massage doctor

During an inter-school sports competition, Zhong accidentally injured his back muscles. After seeing a doctor, taking medicine, and doing physical therapy, his pain has improved a lot, but it has not been completely cured. Later , he mentioned it to his colleagues, and his colleagues said, "I know a very famous Chinese medicine doctor, maybe he can help you!" "Really? Then I'll give him a try, maybe Chinese medicine is really useful." Zhong said excitedly. So he immediately made an appointment to see this famous doctor after work the next day. The Chinese medicine doctor's clinic is located in a high-rise building in the commercial district. When he arrived, he found that there were many patients waiting to see him. "It seems that this doctor is really worthy of his reputation!" Zhong thought. After waiting for almost an hour, he finally got to see the doctor. Ah Zhong thought he would see a kind old man, but when he officially met this famous doctor, he was stunned. He couldn't believe that this famous doctor Guo was actually a "young man" who looked to be in his twenties (later he found out that he was already in his thirties).  "Are you Ah Zhong? You look energetic, you don't look sick!" Dr. Guo said jokingly. "Ah... I have a problem with my body... Not my body, but my muscles." Ah Zhong was attracted by Dr. Guo's handsome face, and his speech became incoherent. "Really? Which group of muscles is the problem?" Dr. Guo asked. "It's the muscles of the whole body, especially the back and waist..." Ah Zhong told how he got injured and…
