Blessing Of Love (Thai Mini-Series)

This four-episode mini-series presents a straightforward BL narrative with a supernatural element. Despite its brief runtime of approximately 22 minutes per episode, the story might have been more effectively conveyed as a short written piece. However, the production appears to have prioritized promotional marketing for its sponsors, which becomes quite overt throughout the series. Originating from an emerging small studio, the show reflects modest production standards.

The plot follows Mew, a new tenant who moves into a building and soon senses the presence of a ghost—or as spirits prefer to be called. After initial tension, it’s revealed that the spirit belongs to Meteor, a young man who took his own life. His tragic past involves a bitter dispute with two friends from his travel group, compounded by unrequited love for a boy who ultimately chose a girl. Meteor is granted a second chance at life under one condition: he must make Mew fall in love with him within thirty days. Failure means banishment to the afterlife. Bound by strict rules, Meteor cannot leave the room without risking eternal disappearance. As the episodes unfold, their relationship deepens, with Mew striving to find a way to restore Meteor’s life.

The series’ primary flaw lies in its script. The intriguing premise could have flourished as a comedy, but instead, it struggles to evoke genuine emotional engagement. The development of the central relationship feels rushed, lacking meaningful moments that would foster believable chemistry between the leads. Rather than focusing on their growing bond, the narrative frequently digresses into uninspired subplots. Notably, the recurring exchanges between two secondary characters—presumably celestial figures—about Meteor’s fate feel disjointed and disrupt the flow, exacerbated by the actors’ stiff performances. The flashback episode, intended to explain Meteor’s suicide, also falls short, delivering only a partial backstory. While the lead actors perform competently, their efforts are undermined by weak writing and direction. Ultimately, the series fails to leave a lasting impression and risks being overshadowed by the abundance of Thai BL content.
